Professor Dr Nikolai Spassov Organizer e-mail: [email protected] [email protected] Professor Spassov has more than 170 scientific papers in the field of palaeontology, taxonomy and morphology of large mammals (Macromammalia), evolution of the terrestrial megafaunas, archaeozoology, evolution of the behaviour of vertebrates, ecology of carnivores, conservation of vertebrates. Currently a curator of the Pleistocene fossil and subfossil collections and the Archeozoological laboratory in the museum. |
Dr. Nadezhda Karastoyanova (Nadia) assistant professor, curator e-mail: [email protected] [email protected] I am working in the National Museum of Natural History (NMNHS-BAS) and National Archaeological Institute with Museum – Bulgarian Academy of Science (NAIM-BAS) as an archaeozoologist and archaeologist. Currently a curator of the Pleistocene fossil and subfossil collections and the Archeozoological laboratory in the museum. My interests are focused on the migration and extinct populations in the prehistory of the Balkans - fallow deer, European wild ass, wild horses and lion. |
Stella Nikolova young researcher at NAIM - BAS e-mail: [email protected] [email protected] (personal) I am currently based as young researcher in archaeozoology at the NAIM-BAS. I completed my MA thesis in 2021 at the University of Edinburgh on a zooarchaological topic and since then I have worked as a practitioner analyzing faunal remains from various archaeological sites from Bulgaria. My emphasis is on Iron Age faunal assemblages, but I recently started working on faunal remains from Medieval sites. I am an active member of the International Council for ArchaeoZoology. Apart from Academia I also work as a graphic designer. |
Dr. Petar Parvanov Assistant Professor at NAIM - BAS e-mail: [email protected] (personal) I hold degrees from the University of Sheffield and the Central European University. Prior to joining the Institute, I held a teaching fellowship in the Eötvös Loránd University of Budapest. My research interests include public heritage, funerary and conflict archaeology with a strong emphasis on the integration of bioarchaeological perspectives. |
